boxee

As media began its move onto the web, boxee saw an opportunity: to bring all that content - music, photography, and video, from both commercial and personal libraries - directly to a user's monitor or television, with a TV-like interface easily controlled by remote or keyboard. With a full set of social networking features, including photo and video sharing support and Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter integration, boxee is a complete unified entertainment platform. A small startup, boxee needed a full set of services from Method, from identity design to the creation of an interface capable of uniting all of those services together in a robust yet intuitive way. The core audience for Boxee was young and tech savvy - people who understood the technology well enough to look beyond mainstream media services. The designs Method created for them reflected an energetic and playful aesthetic. The extensive brand system includes a new mark, standards for typography and colors, designs for business collateral, a set of icons for the product's interface, and rules for animating the system's components in electronic media. Because Boxee came to us early in the product development process, our work was also able to inform the design of the Boxee hardware, developed in tandem by Astro Studios. Method's work for the Boxee interface - designed to work both on the PC and TV - helps users make sense of the great variety of content and features available in the system. From the interface to the website and stationery, Boxee presented a unified brand experiece - playful, simple, and sophisticated. To request an invite for the alpha launch, visit boxee.tv. Brands have no boundaries. We can bring your brand to life on any existing platform or technology - or develop entirely new ones.

TED stands for technology, entertainment, design: a hint at the wide-ranging topics at the heart of this long-running conference hosted each spring in Monterey, California. In 2006, TED approached Method to help them bring the experience and content of the conference online.
