Method Makes It Easier to Navigate the World on Lonelyplanet.com

14 Aug 2006

Method recently delivered a redesigned World Guide navigation system for LonelyPlanet.com's next generation web site. Our goal was to address existing challenges associated with the online resource, and deliver a more usable, graceful, and intuitive system.

With information on literally thousands of worldwide destinations, navigating the online library has proven challenging to users of the site. In addition, technical requirements are rigid - the site must support slow connections and outdated computer setups in far-flung locations.

Method's solution incorporates a world map with roll-over functionality that highlights country names; secondary navigation includes popular destinations, landmarks, and a range of fast facts. Simple roll-down bars allow for quick shifts to new destinations. The solution was designed to be built with Flash 6 technology with small download requirements.
