Catherine Nygaard leads the Interaction Design team in Method's San Francisco office. She has been creating thoughtful, considered design solutions for over 14 years. Before that, she was part of the emerging technorati of Wired and Boing, Boing.
Catherine began her interaction design career at vivid Studios in San Francisco with Nathan Shedroff, one of the pioneers of experience design. She went on to conduct ethnographic fieldwork in global markets, help define next generation concepts and lead efforts for large multi-platform products, services and environments for brands such as: Yahoo!, Apple, Chanel, Converse, Nike, American Express, Lifetime Channel and Ralph Lauren.
Catherine has lead and built interaction design teams, as well as mentored and helped to develop those taking the user experience career path. Her past industry experience spans internationally and includes lifestyle and luxury, fashion, financial, gaming, sports and mobile.
Prior to Method, Catherine was a Creative Director at R/GA. She also was Director of User Experience at Ralph Lauren as a freelance consultant.
Her educational background concentrates in Sociolinguistics and Music, with B.A.s in both Cultural Anthropology and Art History. An amazing baby and two dogs keep her pretty busy. However, in the very little spare time she has, she experiments with geeky electronic music and sound design and brainstorms new digital product ideas with her even geekier husband.
