In his 20 years of design consulting, Matt Barthelemy has been involved in developing scores of new products, services and companies. He applies strategic thinking, creative problem solving, and real-world business acumen to his engagements and has a deep background in brand expression, product and interface design.
Matt has provided business, product and marketing strategy to start-ups and Global 2000 firms alike, with clients ranging from Sony, TiVo, Hitachi and Time Warner Cable to Plantronics, Nokia, Motorola and Fujitsu. His experience includes several highly successful and innovative engagements, from future-office strategy programs with Xerox PARC to brand strategy and service design programs for Honda and Lufthansa, to the design of Apple's ground-breaking original PowerBooks, the 100 and 140/170.
As VP, Strategy at Method, Matt is responsible for ensuring excellence in program strategy, creative execution, and client satisfaction. As part of Method’s leadership, he shares responsibility for mentorship, business strategy, marketing, business development, and client account management.
Prior to joining Method, Matt was a Vice President of Client Services & Creative Director at MetaDesign, with responsibility for business development, account management, and creative strategy for clients including Intel, Palm and Bell Labs. Matt was a Vice President at Sapient Corporation, where he focused on expanding and integrating the Creative disciplines across offices in the U.S., co-founding the Wireless Solutions group and managing a 300 person multi-disciplinary office in San Francisco. He has held senior positions at various other high profile agencies in his career, including Frog Design, Xerox PARC, Lunar Design, and Fitch.
Matt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial design from CSU Long Beach. He holds several international and U.S. patents and has won numerous national and international design awards. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family and renovating his mid-century Eichler home - the project that never ends.
