We recently discovered Toilet Map, a London resource for those on the go… that need to go. Toilet Map currently has 944 public toilets listed (and growing), and you can look them up online, with a mobile app, or on an ordinary phone.
Our initial response to this – besides the fact that it is actually a useful service – was why no one has made a popularized iPhone app for this type of service. With GPS and the success of location-based game mechanics, this could become both a useful and fun app.
A little bit of asking around, and we quickly discovered that a public restroom finder is a recognized need and service.
Charmin (aptly) sponsored SitOrSquat, a map available by mobile app and web for searching for public toilets around the world. SitOrSquat takes it a bit further – not only can you add a toilet, you can list your favorite toilets, share them with friends, and gather ratings.
Diaroogle (+2 for name) is for the discerning public bathroom user. Diaroogle helps you find the hygienic and private bathroom in Manhattan, San Francisco, and London (all of Method’s locations…) via mobile or web. I’m not sure about the vetting process for user generated submissions or who they have enlisted to verify and test each upper-crust bathroom.
We’ve already got some ideas of our own. Can you guess which domain we just registered?
